“STEVE IRWIN WILDLIFE WARRIOR”
“CRIKEY . . WE’RE GONNA MISS YOU STEVE!”
You crashed through the Australian jungle bushland
You burst on to our t.v. screens mud allover your face
“Steve Irwin Wildlife Warrior” of air, sea and land
The arms of the world opened in unprecedented embrace.
Personality plus with eyes sky-blue and blond tousled hair
You educated and entertained the world with your docs
You kissed koalas, smooched snakes, played with penguins
And you jumped into deep waters with creatures and crocs
Then you followed your dream and founded “Australia Zoo
Your succession of successes, you had no room for failure
People came to see you and your zoo from all over the world
You became the “ambassador of ambassadors” for Australia!
You married the “love of your life” Terri girl of your dreams
Baby “Bindi” your little princess a mirror image of dad Steve
Baby “Bob” your little boy was your absolute pride & joy
Australia’s “first family” this nation prayed would never leave.
Steve, you made the world for the first time sit up and listen
Clutching a croc in your big blue eyes a tear would glisten
You taught us to “appreciate” instead of “kill hunt & hate”
Hunters put down their guns because of your “life’s mission”.
T.V. viewers watched you crash onto their screens with a thud
Catching a croc to save its life there you were covered in mud
In that famous khaki shorts and shirt full of wet mud and dirt
You risked your life to save wildlife from danger of being hurt
Steve Irwin Australia’s wildlife warrior with “heart of gold”
Steve Irwin Australia’s wildlife warrior with “nerves of steel”
Steve Irwin Australia’s wildlife warrior with  “will of iron”
Steve Irwin Australia’s wildlife warrior taught us how to “feel”.
Then tragedy struck and the whole world was rocked & shocked
You swam in bluewater not far from where “Croc 1” was docked
As you swam a fraction too near the sting-ray in a moment of fear
Defensively stabbing you through the chest in blue water so clear
Teams quickly lifted you from the crystal clear water so blue
And frantically began to attempt to revive their warrior. . .you
Their efforts to revive you failed with hearts as heavy as lead
They realized the unthinkable their “wildlife warrior” was dead

And the flags of nations fluttered and flying up high unfurled
News of your tragic death traveled to every corner of the world
Only at the “Death of Diana” Princess Diana the world did grieve
Once again the world is weeping over “Death of a Warrior” Steve
I have never seen our Prime Minister John Howard ever cry
But as he spoke of your death in parliament he had a tear in his eye
Your “creature saving” melted hearts oh Steve of Australia Zoo
Just like “Princess Diana” the world will never find “another you”.
And as the whole world weeps in grief and just sheer shock
What will happen to the creatures no one to “cuddle the croc”
Who will fight for their rights who will fund their future safety?
We must all contribute to Australia Zoo & keep alive your legacy
We must all become “warriors for wildlife” just like you
We must maintain and sustain your creatures at Australia Zoo
So the “Demon of Death” did our wildlife warrior slay
But the memory of Steve Irwin will live forever day after day
He was our “Hero” no brighter light was no one ever shone
His lifesaving wildlife wilderness creatures will live on & on
Steve Irwin the image of this warrior was all passion and fire
Saving crocs and creatures was his lifelong heart’s desire
In a world of terror & terrorism he created a peaceful place
He’s up there with Princess Diana of the beautiful face
Yes Bindi chances really are your dad will be there too
As you proudly proclaim “welcome to Australia Zoo”
And when Steve found himself suddenly at Heavens Gate
The golden door opened & God said “Welcome mate”
And God said “Steve there’s a golden chair next to me
With your name in gold engraved with the word “Crikey”
Welcome wildlife warrior with blue eyes & tousled blond hair
Don’t worry look they’re all taking care of business down there
Let me show you Heaven’s Garden waterfalls flowers & rocks
And Steve it’s full of all sorts of animals “creatures & crocs”
So Steve would you walk out into the garden now with me
They want to meet the wildlife warrior the “man in khaki”
These creatures have arrived here Steve from air land & sea”
As their tails swished watery welcome Steve smiled & said
“CRIKEY” !!!!
