"MARILYN MONROE"
GOODBYE "NORMA-JEAN". . .
Your photos tell the story
Of your fame fortune & glory
Marilyn Monroe star of silverscreen
With "to die for" legs and face
That Hollywood starmaker place
Killed off the "innocent" Norma-Jean
As Norma Jean first photo shoot
Young model just a raw recruit
You posed smiling on a sandy shore
The cameraman's camera a-clicking
Your new "clock of life" started clicking
What young starlet could ask for more
As Norma-Jean about to be betrayed
As Norma-Jean you should have stayed
As Norma-Jean no dangers lay unseen
As Norma Jean a home & family for you
And a chance to live your life through
Why did you say "Goodbye Norma-Jean".
Bit by bit the big Hollywood Star-makers
Men with money the makers & the breakers
Dismantled & destroyed the girl Norma-Jean
Shimmering blonde hair replaced long brown
You're now the glamour-girl of "Tinseltown"
You're a Goddess the world has never seen
These men in black these men with money
Smiled at you and called you "honey"
These men had more in store for you
Your next big starring role and movie part
They broke your spirit first then your heart
You are now a victim of the evil that men do
On lonely nights for your old life you are pining
Men with pens & cheque books are a-signing
Your life is suddenly no longer your own
You are bought. . . and you are sold
Like a valuable priceless piece of gold
The most popular girl in town feels so alone
In photos it is impossible to make you look bad
Always smiling for the cameras but inside so sad
Oh how we women all wished we looked like you
Your life no longer yours there is no turning back
Surrounded by men with feelings they do lack
And you dare not question anything they do
Gone now was Norma-Jean the "country cutie"
In her place Marilyn the hottest Hollywood beauty
To catch a glimpse of you crowds pushed & shoved
With your full & famous luscious rose-red lips
And those famous swinging swaying hips
Marvellous Marilyn...begging to be loved
Shimmering blonde hair framed your famous face
In glamour gowns from that designer label place
And not a plastic surgeon anywhere in sight
Millions on your movies were spent
You sang "Happy Birthday Mr. President"
At President John Kennedy's birthday night
The famous photo in white halter dress revealing
Your lovely long legs stretched from floor to ceiling
The wind tunnel blowing your white skirt uphigh
This glamour photo would sell like hell
As your life-story would eventually tell
This photo was worth more than money could buy
Thirty films with the famous star Marilyn Monroe
Yes moviegoers 'tis to your movies they still go
It is impossible to ever "kill a Queen"
And I cry at your life and how you you died
They lied & called your death "suicide"
They murdered Marilyn and Norma-Jean.
Your last night on earth spent all alone
You died reaching for the telephone
How could they do this to someone like you
Did they murder Marilyn? Have they lied?
How come "poison pills" found in you inside
The world knows we will never find another you.
And now at your shocking bedroom death scene
It's "goodbye Marilyn" and "goodbye Norma-Jean"
I know that you were aware no one understands
That as your life drained from you in the end
You found out "Diamonds are not a girl's best friend"
Those men in black have your blood on their hands
In the words of Elton John's song
That we all know and sing along
You lived your life like a "candle in the wind"
On the night the world heard you had died
They lied and said you committed suicide
"Bless me Father" for those men have sinned
Marilyn I want you to know
That I loved and admired you so
That is why I wrote your story in this truestorypoem
I want people to know the "real you"
As I feel so often so close to you
And I pray you found peace in your Heavenly Home
Marilyn I believe I do know how you did feel
Living in a world that seems hardly real
Although I am not famous or beautiful like you
But like you on my bed alone I have laid
Knowing that I too have been betrayed
By "false friends" pretending to be "true"
And yes you were the famous Marilyn Monroe
To your movies the world will always go
You're the most beautiful woman the world has seen
The "Woman with the Unforgettable Face"
No one will ever take your place
"Goodbye Marilyn" and "Goodbye Norma-Jean".
